Working Groups

DC for Democracy’s working groups and committees are small teams that work to advance priority projects and issue campaigns. The following are our active working groups and committees.

The Tracking Council Votes working group collects information on the positions, votes, and other actions of DC Councilmembers and publishes that information on our website. Led by Ed L., Mat H., Leonard E., and Tiffany B.

ELECTIONS COMMITTEE

The Elections Committee leads our work holding candidate forums and considering endorsements.

STEERING COMMITTEE

DC for Democracy’s Steering Committee consists of five Elected Officers who are elected by the membership as well as nine Appointed Officers who are appointed by the Elected Officers. The Steering Committee provides communications between committees and officers, conducts business between monthly all-member meetings, and responds to rapid requests for action from our endorsed coalitions.

The Affordable Housing working group advocates for the DC government to put greater emphasis on housing development that is not driven by the market—public housing, limited equity cooperatives, community land trusts, Green New Deal for Housing, and social housing. Led by Elinor H., Renee B., Sara H., John Z., and John Q.
