DC4D is working on multiple fronts this summer. Besides playing a visible role on DC Voting Rights and researching Democratic Presidential Primary candidates’ positions, we are also taking a second look at our bylaws, in the hope of making it easier for us to endorse a candidate this October in a crowded field of Democratic candidates.
Sign up here for our next Meetup, Wednesday, August 1 at historic Ben’s Chili Bowl on U Street.
We are taking a hard look at Instant Run-off Voting (IRV) as a method of doing our organizational endorsements. IRV is favored by many progressive groups, but it is rather complicated, so we’ll be spending most of the Meetup talking about IRV and doing a fun demo to show how it actually works.
See you at our next Meetup, Wednesday, August 1 here.
Last week, the DC voting rights coalition organized the first of its planned visibility rallies outside US Senate office buildings, and it will continue to Demand the Vote every Wednesday until the Senate passes legislation to grant DC citizens full voting rights in the US House of Representatives.
DC4D’s IT Chair, Keith Ivey, was at the rally and took the above picture (thanks, Keith!). Check out the rest of Keith’s pics here, and listen to WAMU’s news coverage here.
Next Wednesday, July 25th, please join DC4D in demanding the vote now! Kesh Ladduwahetty, DC4D Chair, will join our DC Shadow Delegation and Senator Orrin Hatch in calling on the Senate to vote on S. 1257, the DC Full House Voting Rights Act of 2007.
After the Rally, help us hand-deliver joint letters from DCFD and our sister organization, Democracy for Utah, to each Senator asking for their vote.
Join us at the next Rally on Wednesday, July 25 from 12:00 - 1:30 PM. Let Senators know we demand the vote!
We will meet on the North side of Constitution Avenue between First and Second Streets, NE, for a short rally and then fan out in the Senate office buildings to distribute timely literature to staffers.
Join us on July 25 from 12:00 - 1:30 PM. Please RSVP to email@example.com.
See you on Wednesday!
